For two performers: two soprano saxophones, two cellos, light design & electronics

Designed for two performers, two soprano saxophones, and two cellos accompanied by a lighting design, this piece immerses us in a poetic and surreal atmosphere, inviting the audience to rediscover the role of human presence in the act of creation.

Through this interplay of presence and absence, the piece questions the existence of art beyond humanity: does art need us to exist? Are we the ones shaping art, or does art shape us? This reflection draws upon the notion of contingency, which suggests that not everything is determined by pre-existing causes.

From this perspective, human freedom is perceived as a space of infinite choices, where each act, each gesture, becomes an assertion of existence but also a responsibility in the face of meaning (or the absence of meaning) in our own lives. Inspired by Camus’ absurdism and Sartre’s radical freedom, this work embraces uncertainty and ambiguity, inviting everyone to question the human condition—between dream and reality, between control and letting go, between being and appearing.
