L’Une e(s)t L’Autre

For two cellos and a loop pedal

The piece L’Une e(s)t l’Autre is based on a game of gestures. The two cellists, positioned side by side, perform synchronized movements. The piece begins with this effect of mirror-like symmetry, which gradually becomes distorted: anomalies begin to appear in each musician, making them increasingly human. A third mirror effect, this time sonic, appears in a second section with the use of the loop station.

The piece was premiered at the Franz Liszt Hall in Geneva and performed at the Atelier du Plateau in Paris during the Festival Les Ateliers du Violoncelle in 2023.
